Nokomis, or Grandmother — the Earth Goddess of the Algonquin — fed and nurtured all living things. She was the first to harvest the wonderful syrup of the Maple tree. Maple is 12% harder than Oak and can bring timeless warmth to any home, with its light, even color and clear, uniform wood grain.

Yellow Birch - A magic touch Satin Finished

Those versed in witchcraft will know that twigs of birch were used for witches' brooms… and that birch cradles were thought to offer protection to a newborn. Bewitching yellow birch is naturally light and honey-colored, with a shiny appearance and a fine wood grain.

Ash - Love at first sight Satin Finished

3/4" x 2-1/4"  -  $4.99 per sqft / 3/4" x 3-1/4" - $5.49 per sqft

In Northern England, legend has it that if a woman placed an Ash leaf in her left shoe, she would shortly thereafter encounter her future husband. Embrace destiny with the elegant appeal of Ash, and a striking grain that is reminiscent of Oak yet with softer, lighter color tones.

American Cherry - Rich satisfaction Satin Finished

3/4" x 2-1/4"  -  $5.99 per sqft / 3/4" x 3-1/4" - $6.59 per sqft

If a woman who has just given birth to her first child eats the first ripe fruit of a Cherry tree, the tree's owner is assured of a rich crop. The rich tones of American Cherry are a visual feast that grows more delightful with the passing of time.

Our Heritage

Humble beginnings

The origins of our company date back to 1936, when brothers Jules and William Dubeau started operating a sawmill located 45 minutes North East of Montréal in St. Norbert. In fact, Dubeau Frères was the second oldest manufacturer of hardwood in Canada, a testament to the long term vision of the Dubeau brothers.

Ten years later in 1946, they changed the vocation of the company, marketing hardwood flooring through building contractors and flooring specialists.

In the 1960's, the Dubeau brothers then proceeded to develop parquetry products, an avant-garde move which complemented the strip flooring product line. Parquet flooring was immediately popular as an inexpensive alternative to strip flooring.

Following a major fire in 1978, the brothers rebuilt their facility and resumed production under the name Les Parquets Dubeau Ltd. To meet the increasing demand for parquet flooring in the 1980's, the company introduced prefinished parquetry at the plant.

Growing across North America

With the return to traditional decorating values in the 1990's, consumers' preferences reverted to strip hardwood flooring. Les Parquets Dubeau reintroduced strip flooring in their product mix - with the added benefit of prefinishing - under the Eterna brand name. The company also developed a network of specialized flooring retailers in Canada and the United States who support the high quality and select product line of Eterna hardwood flooring.

To meet a growing demand, Les Parquets Dubeau Ltd ended the 20th century on a high note by acquiring a facility in St. Just de Breteniere, near the U.S./Canadian border. The company now operates two facilities, including the original location in St. Norbert.

A solid partnership

In 2001, Les Parquets Dubeau Ltd and Lauzon Enterprises Ltd join forces. The company was the first in the industry to fully integrate operations, from controlling the wood supply to the manufacturing of the finished product. Harvesting responds to environmentally responsible practices and the wood unused in the transformation process is recycled.

Today, they rank amongst the top leading wood flooring manufacturers in North America.

The roots of success

Our commitment to excellence and our true passion for wood are at the root of Les Parquets Dubeau's success. Thanks to careful craftsmanship, marketing flair and strategic investments throughout the years in technology and R&D, Eterna hardwood flooring products meet the expectations of the most demanding customers.

Les Parquets Dubeau Ltd remains committed today to the production of high quality prefinished flooring, counting on close to 70 years of experience and the expertise of 250 employees.
